Phytophthora cinnamomi

Phytophthora cinnamomi

Root-infecting Phytophthora cinnamomiis known to attack a variety of species including sweet chestnut, beech and yew.  Transmission is believed to be through groundwater and, while some trees seem able to recover from infection, others die.  Not enough is known about P. cinnamomi– but it is already a serious problem in the UK and in many other countries.
